Guide_

How to use this JSON formatter

Prettyparse is a free online JSON beautifier and validator. Paste messy API responses, config files, or logs and get readable output in one click.

  1. Paste JSON, upload a .json file, or load the sample.
  2. Choose 2-space or 4-space indent. Optionally enable Sort keys.
  3. Click Format to pretty-print, Minify to compress, or Validate to check strict JSON.
  4. Use Escape / Unescape when you need JSON inside a string literal.
  5. Copy or Download the result. Processing stays in your browser.

Why_

Why use Prettyparse

Most “pretty print JSON online” tools either upload your payload or stop at a single Format button. Prettyparse keeps the full toolkit local: format, validate, minify, sort keys, escape/unescape, upload, and download.

Privacy_

Local by design

Formatting uses your browser’s built-in JSON.parse / JSON.stringify. Your JSON never needs a server round-trip to pretty-print or validate. That keeps latency low and sensitive payloads off someone else’s disk.

JSON formatter FAQ

Is my JSON uploaded to a server?

No. Prettyparse formats, validates, and minifies JSON entirely in your browser. Your payload is not uploaded for processing.

How do I pretty-print or beautify JSON?

Paste or upload JSON, choose 2-space or 4-space indent, then click Format. The editor pretty-prints valid JSON so nested objects and arrays are easy to read.

Can I minify JSON online with Prettyparse?

Yes. Click Minify to strip insignificant whitespace and produce compact JSON for APIs, storage, or transfer. Optionally enable Sort keys first for stable output.

How does the JSON validator work?

Validate runs native JSON.parse in your browser. On failure you get a clear error with line and column when available. Invalid input is not rewritten.

Why does trailing comma JSON fail?

Standard JSON does not allow trailing commas. Prettyparse validates strict JSON, so remove trailing commas or convert from a JS object literal before formatting.

What does Sort keys do?

Format and Minify can recursively sort object keys alphabetically. Array order is preserved.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes. Prettyparse caps input at 5 MB to keep the tab responsive. For larger files, split the payload or use a local CLI.
